Quilt Camp – three day workshop 10+ years
Make your own quilt! This is a large size quilt (209cm x 171cm approximately). It fits like a bedspread on a single bed shown above or as a quilt on a double bed or a topper on a queen size bed.
This three day class is suitable for students who have attended a Sew with Jo class before. We will be using the Turning Twenty Quilt pattern by Trisha Cribbs for this class. Class is dependant upon at least 4 students enrolling.
Monday 18th September, 2017 – 9am- 4:30pm (piecing the quilt)
Tuesday 19th September 2017 – 9am -4:30pm ( layout and assembly of the quilt top – the quilt is then sent away to a professional quilter (Glenrose Quilting) to be quilted in an all over pattern of student’s choice
Saturday 7th October 2017 – 9am -4:30pm (Binding the quilt) – this is the first Saturday back from school after the holidays
Students must be able to commit to all 3 days above. Please ensure your child can make it to all three days before booking.
Fabric and thread requirements:
The pieces for the quilt are precut before the class, so the following must be provided 5 weeks prior to the class (by the 12th August, 2017) – Please talk to Jo before buying your fabric.
– .5 metre (50cm) x 10 coordinating cotton prints (a mixture of lighter and darker prints and small and medium prints works well)
-20 fat quarters (20 coordinating cotton fat quarters – (a mixture of lighter and darker prints and small and medium prints works well)
(choose one only option from above)
-.7 metre (70cm) of cotton fabric for the binding of the quilt
– 250 metre reel of polyester thread (Gutterman or Mettler)
(please note due to the type of piecing method in this quilt, non directional prints are recommended or the direction of the print will be in different directions on your quilt).
– $250 class fee (includes Turning Twenty book , thread for binding the quilt, cost of return postage of quilt to Glenrose Quilting, morning and afternoon tea each day)
– $185 (approximately) for professional quilting at Glenrose Quilting – this includes an all over quilt design of students choice, wadding and the backing of the quilt
Payment process for this class:
Saturday 12th August ($100 deposit due – please also provide fabric by this date)
Monday 18th September 2017 ($150 balance of class fee due)
Saturday 7th October 2017 ($185 approx for professional quilting due)
Morning and afternoon tea is provided each day – please bring your own lunch.
Class size is limited to 5. Class will run dependant upon at least 4 students enrolling.
